WHAT TO SEE IN VILLAJOYOSA
Villajoyosa, a coastal town, is the capital of the Marina Baixa, located between Benidorm and Alicante, with a lot of beaches and beautiful corners to visit and not to miss any. We recommend that you get lost in the town and see the Vila from the inside, but even so, we leave you with a couple of ideas of places to visit.
OLD TOWERS
If you like history you will love this site. These are the Torre de El Xarco and the Torre del Águilo, both from the 16th century, which were formerly towers where the town was guarded against possible pirate attacks. Also, very close to our campsite, we have the Tower of Hercules (also known as Sant Josep), one of the best preserved Roman funerary monuments in all of Spain.
COLORED HOUSES
On the promenade of Villajoyosa (Carrer Arsenal) you will find its lively and colored houses where you will not want to miss the opportunity to take out your camera and let your family and friends see this historical-artistic wonder located in this town of Alicante.
The colorful houses of Villajoyosa have a lot of history behind them, even if it doesn’t seem like it. There are several versions that have been listening for generations and each one is more interesting. From fishermen who wanted to see their houses from the high seas to hidden messages. A wonder that you do not want to miss.
MUSEUM AND CHOCOLATE FACTORY
If you are a chocolate lover, you will not want to miss this sweet experience. Villajoyosa apart from standing out for its beaches, also stands out for being the cradle of chocolate. Factories such as Valor, Clavileño chocolates and Pérez chocolates are located in this town, where you can schedule a visit and learn more about
their stories and elaborations.
ROMAN CITY OF ALLON
The famous old towers of Villajoyosa were not going to be the only legacy of the Romans. Recently, the ninth Roman city in the Valencian community, the city of Allon, was discovered. One of the most important Roman discoveries in Spain in recent years.
